100% Tobacco Free Schools Leadership Forums
The NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund, in collaboration with the NC Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch,  is sponsoring a round of Tobacco Free School Leadership Forums.  They will be held at the following locations:  Spruce Pine (March 23); Kenansville (April 4); and Winston-Salem (April 5). Forums are 2-hour lunch and panel discussion designed to help superintendents, school board members, principals, athletic directors, public health leaders and others learn more about adopting and enforcing a 100% tobacco free school policy.  Lunch and networking time is followed by an in-depth panel discussion by a superintendent, board member and high school principal from NC's 100% tobacco free school districts. There is no cost to attend.

Read more about the leadership forums below or download a document with more information and a registration form in Microsoft Word format here (each form is about 500kb).  You may download an information-and-registration form for the forums in Kenansville, Spruce Pine, and Winston-Salem, or a general form that will work for all three forums (in Kenansville, Spruce Pine, or Winston-Salem).

Making a Case for 100% Tobacco-Free Schools in North Carolina. A forum for school, public health, and community leaders sponsored by the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund

Fifty-one North Carolina School Districts – 44% –  have adopted a 100% tobacco free school policy – one that prohibits all tobacco use, by everyone, at all times on school property. You are invited to join school, public health and community leaders from across North Carolina to learn how your school district can successfully adopt and enforce a 100% tobacco free school policy. This 2-hour program is designed for school administrators, board members, health department staff, parents and others interested in preventing youth tobacco use and creating a safer and healthier school environment. Lunch and networking time will be followed by an in-depth panel discussion. Participants will learn how this important health policy can decrease student health risk behavior, support academic success, and change the culture of the school district to promote healthy students, staff and environments.
