Why Tobacco Free Schools

Having a tobacco-free school environment is important in achieving physical, mental, and social health goals for students, staff, the school and the district. North Carolina is at a pivotal point as community and school teams work towards this goal. There is much support for schools to adopt comprehensive tobacco policies. In a time of increased knowledge about the risks of tobacco use and the need to protect our health, it is important that North Carolina’s public schools join other public institutions that have established no smoking regulations in order to safeguard our students and school community.
